About Us
The MWBE GovTek Connect is a forum exclusively for public sector-focused technology provider companies with Minority and Women owners. It is the first and only forum of its kind in the nation.
Mission
Despite the significant number of groups that advocate for MWBE and diversity inclusion initiatives in governmental procurements and policies, it is often very difficult to make out the perspective of the MWBE GovTek community through the cacophony of “MWBE voices”. As such the resulting policy/initiatives from the efforts of these MWBE organizations tend to be skewed towards the construction industry companies that dominate their ranks, and don’t specifically address the needs of IT services companies. This is the problem that the MWBE GovTek Connect group (MGC) aims to rectify.
With an initial focus in New York City (NYC) the MGC hopes to contribute to the increase in governmental opportunities for MWBE GovTek firms, increase teaming amongst the firms within the community, and increase the sheer number of certified MWBE GovTek firms.
The MGC 4 point mission is thus to:
- Foster Community of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises in the Information Technology Industry
- Bridge-IT MWBE Community to Government Buyers and Influencers
- Assist Government with the development of Policies & Best Practices
- Support the Growth and Development of IT MWBE Firms in the Community

Committees
The work of the MGC will be conducted in our committees. Committees provide an opportunity for members to take a more active role within the community, and help us execute our mission.
Policy
The policy committee will be focused on developing and advocating for policies and measures that are beneficial to the our community
Events
The events committee will be focused on facilitating the access between the community and Governmental buyers/influencers. Our signature event is the ‘CIO Chat’ during which we facilitate a candid and casual conversation between the CIO (and his/her team) of a specific agency. The goal is to get our community access to the individuals in an agency who can speak informatively about the pipeline needs at an agency (compliant with all procurement rules) and break the veil of unfamiliarity that typically affects M/WBE firms attempting to be of service in the City.
Membership & Outreach
The membership committee will be focused on growing our membership, and fostering connections amongst our members; while aiming to facilitate their growth. There are many opportunities for teaming amongst M/WBEs and to learn from more established M/WBEs. This committee will facilitate our membership being able to tap into the benefits of community.
